Warm greetings to you all,
Before we board the “Fashion Pastry travel wagon”, if there are any of you who missed part I of my Barcelona diary (which gave a brief overview of where we stayed), you can read it here.
Barcelona or Cataluña as the locals call it, is undeniably a city of modernism and of course “Gaudí”. With its fine city beaches, excellent and endless shopping possibilities and superb Mediterranean climate, it comes as no surprise that it’s one of the world’s most popular travel destinations.
Although the city boasts impeccable transportation services (metro, trams, buses, taxis, airport shuttle/bus services,…) it is most certainly best enjoyed by foot.
Brimming with delectable gastronomic delights, stay out late hangs and a euphoric electrical buzz, the city offers the promise of having “the-time-of-ones-life”.
Our week away was both a cultural and culinary excursion that took us from our gorgeous Hotel, the BCN Princess Hotel located in the Business District of Sant Martí, through the Medevial city of Gothic Exiample with its traditional eateries, architectural Passeig de Gracia, the neighboring Carrer de la Rambla and its colorful Boqueira Market not forgetting breathtaking Montjuïc. The choices were just endless.
Although not a first timer, I remain completely enamored by the cultural diversity of Barcelona . There is absolutely nothing like it! Every inch of Barcelona is filled with charm. The bold and creative hand of Gaudí’s architecture reflects happiness, uniqueness and passion for life.
It has been a rather difficult task for me to capture the precise emotions procured by a city like Barcelona.
Some things “have to be experienced” to be understood.
But may this second chapter of our trip you bring you warmth, sunshine and joy as the festive season approaches!
